SPT allergy test

A skin prick test (SPT) is a common and reliable method used to identify allergic sensitivities to various substances. Based on the patient's history and symptoms, the healthcare provider selects a panel of allergens for testing. Common allergens may include pollen, dust mites, pet dander, certain foods, and insect venom.

The skin prick test is typically performed on the forearm or the back.

Small amounts of each selected allergen are applied to the skin using a tiny, sterile needle or lancet. Each allergen is applied in a separate area.

Skin prick testing is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of allergic conditions and helps guide allergen avoidance strategies and treatment plans. Interpretation of results should be done by qualified healthcare professionals, typically allergists or immunologists.
